Lowest Price : Buy Dreamfoam Online

The thought of heading to a mattress showroom fills you with dread, but even more than that, the idea of how much you’re going to spend trying to get a mattress from one of those places. Fortunately, there’s a new type of mattress company.

Dreamfoam is a family-owned company in the midst of large corporations. They started as part of the bed-in-a-box mattress boom, but their primary mission is producing excellent customized mattresses at an affordable price point.

It’s one of the few mattress companies out there that will reach out to you when you order a custom mattress to start a conversation about what kind of bed might be the best choice. They own their factories outright, so everything they offer you is in full control of you and Dreamfoam and not some corporate alliance.

Dreamfoam has quite a dedicated following because of this. Some of their mattresses even have a customizable layer that you can exchange yourself once you have your bed in your home. You unzip the cover and replace the latex layer without having to send back the entire bed. So convenient.

Dreamfoam is a part of the Brooklyn Bedding family, a company that started in 1995. Their tongue-in-cheek bio on their website gives us a glimpse into how obsessive they are about mattresses. In fact, they were the first company to compress mattresses to send in a box for delivery, and they haven’t given up since.

Brooklyn Bedding began with a search for a better mattress. One day the two brothers saw a demonstration of a Chinese company compressing a mattress, and that was all she wrote. They invested in the machine and changed the entire way they do business.

By owning the means of production and keeping shipping costs down with this new compression method, the brothers have consistently offered higher quality mattresses at significant savings over a traditional showroom.

Product Offering

Dreamfoam has three basic styles of mattress divided into mattress type and purpose.

Arctic Dreams

The Arctic Dreams is a ten-inch memory foam mattress that uses a proprietary foam called Energex. It’s hypoallergenic, mold and bacteria resistant, and retains a lot of the durable properties of visco without the slow response time. The result? A bouncier memory foam.

It’s available in medium firmness and is suitable for combination support and multiple sleep positions. It strikes a balance between the contouring effects of visco-elastic foam but the cooling and responsive properties of latex.

The Arctic Dream comes in a medium firmness level that should satisfy the majority of sleepers with no current pain issues. It’s available in all of Dreamfoam’s mattress sizes, including some rare sizes such as a short queen.

Foam

Their Ultimate Dreams line comes in all foam versions with different firmness levels. The Ultimate Dreams foam uses gel layers to help sleepers remain up to 30% cooler than standard memory foam. The first layer is a one, and a half inch gel layer and the contouring layer is two and a half inches of memory foam. The contouring layer determines the firmness levels of the mattress.

Foam Ultimate Dreams comes in soft, medium, firm and ultra firm models. It’s also available in all of Dreamfoam’s sizes.

Latex

In the latex line, customers choose the option to speak directly with an agent to help determine the right firmness level. With their top of the line model, the latex layer is fully accessible underneath the cover. If you speak with an agent and order a bed only to find that it’s still too soft or firm, the company can exchange that layer to meet your needs.

Latex is a more durable material than foam, so this line is the most significant investment. It’s available in a variety of firmness levels from ultra soft to ultra firm, and it comes in all of Dreamfoam’s sizes.

Accessories

Dreamfoam has a full line of accessories including RV mattresses built from the same materials as regular Dreamfoam beds. You can choose from a platform foundation, metal frame foundation, or three different styles of adjustable bed foundations. They also have a mattress protector, a gel memory foam topper, sheets, and two very affordable pillows (latex or shredded foam).

Customer Support

Dreamfoam’s success hinges on their customer service. One full line of their mattresses depends entirely on the relationship to the customer to deliver a fully customized mattress. They have an excellent reputation for being helpful and knowledgeable. You can even call to talk about comparisons between beds you may have tried in a showroom and comparable Dreamfoam models.

Everything is based in the United States, so you shouldn’t have any language troubles or difficulty relating to the agent. The whole process is straightforward and relationship-oriented. They get full marks from us.

Sleep Trials, Warranties & Return Policy

The company offers you a 120-night sleep trial to decide if the mattress is what you want. You must sleep on your mattress for a minimum of 30 nights before you can initiate a return. The company feels that you need this time to determine if the bed is right for you.

With the customizable latex mattresses, the company can exchange the contouring foam layer without swapping the entire bed. You put down a refundable deposit of $200, and they send your new layer to you. Once they receive your returned layer, they refund the cost of the deposit.

They also offer a ten to twenty-year warranty depending on the model of mattress you get. The warranty covers mattress defects and irregular wear and tear. Be mindful that if your mattress isn’t supported correctly, this can void the warranty.

The company will repair or replace a mattress (their choice) during the warranty period. You will need the original receipt, and you must be the original purchaser of the mattress.

Coupons, Discounts, Sales & Deals

The company is currently offering 10% off everything on their site if you use the code “summer10” at checkout.

You can also check out any new sales directly on their specials page.

  • Twin XL: 38” x 80” x 12”
  • Full: 54” x 74” x 12”
  • Full XL: 54” x 80” x 12”

  • King: 76” x 80” x 12”
  • Cal King: 72” x 84” x 12”

What’s It Made Out Of?

This model is all latex with no springs or traditional foam. The latex layers are more responsive and more cooling than conventional memory foam though it is significantly heavier. The top layer is Talalay latex, an eco-friendly alternative to lab create latexes. It’s Oeko Tex 100 certified, which means there’s nothing in the bed that’s bad for the environment or your health.

They use organic wool for fire retardant and bacteria resistant properties. The cover is a natural bamboo material that removes via zipper. The dense support layer is a six-inch Talalay foam while the exchangeable comfort layers are three inches. You access the comfort layers by unzipping the bamboo cover.

Bamboo is a renewable resource that’s softer and more breathable than cotton. Latex is far more durable than traditional memory foam, and all latex mattress can last up to 30 years. Latex also gives more bounce. If you’re tired of the dead foam feeling of traditional memory foam, latex is a good option.

Is It Good For…?

Side Sleepers

Yes. The customizable mattress has a wide range of firmness choices. You can choose a bed that has more give so that the pressure on your shoulders and hips lessens while still filling in areas around your torso.

Stomach Sleepers

Yes. You can customize the bed to provide ultra firm pressure relief. It also has good edge support so you can use the side of the bed to get into a comfortable position on your stomach without throwing your back out of alignment.

Back Pain

Yes. Since the mattress doesn’t have a general “firm” choice, you can customize your mattress to your exact specifications. If you have moderate back pain and a partner that’s a side sleeper, you can choose a medium firm option. If you experience a lot of pain but need the top layer to fill in your lower lumbar region, you can select a firm option. Customizability is key.

Hot Sleepers

Yes. Although this model isn’t their most cooling one, latex is naturally more open and breathable than foam. You aren’t going to experience as much of the warm hug as you would with traditional foam.

Heavy People

Yes. The mattress is very customizable so as you talk with your agent, you can decide on a bed that considers your needs. Heavier sleepers will probably steer towards a firmer option to make sure that pressure points still have support.

That said, there might be better options out there with mattresses explicitly made with heavier weights in mind (Winkbeds Plus or Ghostbed).

Sex

Meh. Latex is bouncier than memory foam, sure, but if you’re used to the innerspring responsiveness for your activities, you might be a little disappointed. However, if you know that you like the way memory foam feels, you might be pleasantly surprised by the uptick in responsiveness over memory foam.

Where Can I Buy It?

Dreamfoam is available exclusively through the website, and some models are available from Amazon. The customization process requires a dialog with the company itself, so make sure you head to their website if you want to go that route,

How Much Does It Cost?

The Ultimate Dreams all latex model is their most expensive mattress model, but considering how much the average all latex option costs plus the customization process, you’re still getting a great deal.

It averages from affordable to expensive, but the Cal king is still just $1500 while a queen sets you back just over $1000. All latex models typically run closer to $4000-$6000, so you’re still well in the realm of affordable.

Is It Worth It?

The chance to invest in Talalay latex with no foam or innerspring plus an extra customizable layer and working directly with the company to determine your perfect mattress for less than $2000? Are you kidding?

Of course, we love it. Dreamfoam has a following for a reason. Their mattresses are high quality and thoughtful. It’s refreshing to find a bed with such high levels of care and customization. We also appreciate that we can now get an entire latex option for a little more responsiveness without plunking down thousands of dollars.

The removable cover is also a nice touch, and because it’s a fully sustainable fabric, we feel a lot better about having it on our skin. There isn’t a lot of off-gassing that happens right after unpacking, either. The mattress is Certi-Pur certified so we know that we can trust the materials to be good for our health and easier on the environment.

We also love being able to support a family-owned business. We feel good about supporting mattress made in the United States and with having a real person on the other end of the line when we’re trying to decide on a bed. It’s like having a mattress expert without the hassle of the sales language you find in showrooms.

We would like to see more options for heavier sleepers, but since you can customize the Ultimate Dreams latex version, it does open up the beds for those who may have specific needs because of weight. While not the ideal option, it does accommodate more types of sleepers.

Shipping Info

Brooklyn Bedding was one of the first companies to compress a mattress for delivery. They use standard FedEx shipping (free to you), and your mattress arrives in a box at your door. You don’t have to wait for a delivery window or deal with a delivery person.

They don’t have the option of white glove delivery at this time. It does save you some money and frees up your delivery day, but if you know you’ll have trouble maneuvering the bed, you might want to enlist some help to get everything set up.

Unpack the box and carefully tear away the plastic to allow the bed to unfold and begin to re-inflate. Most beds are entirely inflated within six to seven hours. The official recommendation is giving the mattress five to six hours after it looks like it’s fully inflated (usually only one to two hours).

Compressing the mattress doesn’t harm the latex density. The mattress will retain all its supportive properties even after compression and packing for shipment.

Best Bed Frame/Foundation for the Dreamfoam Mattress

Dreamfoam is designed to work with any supportive foundation. You can place it directly on the floor, use a platform, use slats (no more than three to four inches apart) or a traditional frame. You can also use an adjustable frame.

It’s essential that the foundation not be flexible like some slatted beds or traditional box spring. If you don’t adequately support the mattress, you could find more sagging than usual which voids the warranty and ruins your mattress.

There are a few different foundations you can purchase directly through Dreamfoam. They offer both a platform bed and regular frame bed, but they also offer three different types of adjustable frame. If you want a basic adjustable foundation, they have it, but they also have a fully updated tech version with USB ports, an under the bed light, and zero gravity positioning.

Why Not To Buy A Dreamfoam Mattress

If you adore the responsiveness and bounce of a traditional innerspring mattress, this one isn’t going to make you happy. Not even the all latex version.

Latex is certainly more responsive than all memory foam, but the pushback of the support layers aren’t going to spring like a conventional mattress. It still needs a few seconds to bounce back to its original position which might make it feel difficult changing positions in the middle of the night.

We recommend giving the mattress a full 30 days to see if you gradually get used to this feeling. You may find that as you adjust, you don’t even notice the difference anymore. However, there is always the chance you’ll never forget the way your innerspring mattress felt.

Similar Brands

If that’s the case, we recommend a hybrid option, such as the Sapira or the Winkbeds options for the contour of memory foam but the responsive spring of coils.

Another all latex mattress you might find interesting is the Zenhaven by Saatva. If you love the idea of an all latex mattress, but you’d like the option of white glove delivery and removal of your old bed, Zenhaven offers you those options. Zenhaven also uses Talalay latex, an eco-friendly material that’s non-toxic for your health and easy on the environment.

Conclusion

Dreamfoam’s family brand replicates the feeling of having a familiar face at your favorite store, but it brings that relationship into a new era. It gets a solid A from us for allowing us to customize a mattress to our exact specifications and even change our mind later without parting with thousands and thousands of dollars.

Even after consulting with a knowledgeable representative of the company, we can still alter the outcome of the mattress without having to give up the entire thing because of their innovative layer exchange. In some cases, you want to change out your entire mattress, but in others, just a small tweak will do. Being able to do that is nice.

We are also pleased that an all latex version is now within our reach. Europeans have been using all latex mattresses for a while, but it’s harder to find that in the US. Many are prohibitively expensive, but here’s this company giving us customizable options in a more durable material than poly foams.

Plus, supporting a company that’s family owned and located in the United States is one way to do our part for the local economy. If something goes wrong, you aren’t dealing with someone overseas and settling for slow response times. Their customer service agents understand your needs and are quick to offer solutions if you have an issue.
