View The Winner

These two mattress brands are relative newcomers with regards to direct to the consumer beds business. Two things that stand out about these brands is they both offer year-long sleep trials with free returns and life-long warranties—the Forever Warranty and the Everlong Warranty. The perks are similar, so it will be interesting to see how the two beds stack up against one another. When it comes to the websites, Nectar already gets one point for their super fun marquee off Zzz’s and sheep that pops up to drift across the screen.

About These Two Brands

First, we should give you some baseline knowledge about each of the brands.

DreamCloud Recap Full Review

What To Like

  • DreamCloud is an eight-layer hybrid bed.
  • You get a luxury bed at a budget price.
  • Even though it has innersprings, it still rolls up and ships to your door.
  • It uses a big, plush hand-tufted quilted cover.
  • It sleeps cool.
  • It works well with adjustable frames.
  • Fantastic at stopping motion transfer.
  • Fast customer service in their online chat box.

What Not To Like

  • Manufactured in China.
  • It’s neither traditional foam or spring. So, if you are set on a classic feel, you might need to look elsewhere.

DreamCloud has done an excellent job at bringing a plush and luxurious hybrid bed to consumers at an affordable price. It indeed does look and feel like ‘lovingly crafted and meticulously chosen, sleep enhancing luxury.’

Unlike many of the ‘bed in a box’ brands, DreamCloud is designed in the USA but carefully manufactured with premium foams and materials in preferred Chinese facilities. Then the mattresses are sent to Seattle where they undergo rigorous quality assurance test before being sent off to their new owners.

Considerations

  • Amazing 365-day trial period.
  • DreamCloud does not charge to pick up returns.
  • Free shipping inside of the United States.
  • Premium Everlong Warranty that lasts as long as you own the bed.

Nectar Recap Full Review

What To Like

  • It works with all frame types and bases.
  • Very affordable.
  • It comes in a bag with duffle-like handles for easy moving.
  • They sell matching pillows and accessories.
  • Three of the five foam layers are designed for cooling.
  • Nectar is dust mite proof.

What Not To Like

  • Is all-foam so those who like the innerspring feel will be disappointed.
  • Made in China.

The Nectar mattress is all memory foam. There is no latex or springs. They do use a gel-infused memory foam underneath the Tencel-cotton cover which provides a wonderfully cool sleeping surface.

One of the things that stands out about Nectar is they have a delighted customer base with less than a three percent product return rate. I had some questions about whether or not Nectar would sleep as comfortable as they claim, especially since it is all memory foam. But the fan-base seems to think so. One point for nectar.

Considerations

  • The Nectar offers a 365-night trial period and a full refund with pick up.
  • The Nectar mattress comes with a Forever Warranty.
  • Nectar ships for free to the contiguous USA and Canada.
  • Nectar has foundations available for purchase.
  • Nectar mattresses are CERTIPUR-US® certified, so no PBDEs or TDCPPs.
  • Made in China.

Nectar and DreamCloud Comparison

Know that you have learned a little bit about the companies and what they offer, it’s time to compare the beds head-to-head to see which one is better.

How are Nectar and DreamCloud Similar

First, the similarities.

How Cool They Sleep

The Nectar uses an open cell foam. This type of foam is designed to sleep cool. When you couple their foam with their lightweight polyester blend cover, the bed sleeps pretty cool. DreamCloud is made with a breathable cashmere and polyester blend cover over a cooling gel memory foam that does a fantastic job at drawing heat away from your body.

Firmness

DreamCloud Reviews and consumer reports state that their mattress is 7.5 out of 10 with regards to their level of firmness. Although it is slightly firmer than the Nectar, it isn’t a significant difference.

Most Nectar reviews rate the firmness at 6 to 6.5 on a scale that goes to 10. Nectar is an exact medium firmness. Although the Nectar mattress is a little bit softer, they are both medium firm/soft so not a whole lot different.

Mattress Selection

Neither of these two beds has options on these lines to choose from. What you see is what you get. There are no different trims, like ‘slim’ or different tops or firmness levels.

Warranty & Shipping

Both of these companies are used to dominating the market with their warranty package. But in this matchup, they are equal. Both offer industry-leading lifetime warranties; the Forever Warranty and the Everlong Warranty.

Sleep Trial

Oh, my goodness! I thought DreamCloud would run away with this, but Nectar also offers a 365-night sleep trial. And unlike some other brands, both of these will give you your money back if you are not satisfied and neither will charge you to pick up your returned mattress.

How Nectar & DreamCloud are Different

These two companies offer quite a few of the same perks and benefits when you purchase one of their mattresses. However, the overall makeup of these two beds is different. Let’s see why.

Price

Nectar is less expensive. The start at $850.00 for a queen, but you get a $125.00 instant discount which brings the total to $725.00. DreamCloud starts at $1199.00 but they have constant promos to the tune of $200 off, putting the DreamCloud at $999.00. When all is said and done, the Nectar is about $275 cheaper.

Construction

The Nectar is constructed with five layers and stands 11 inches tall, counting the Tencel cooling cover which is light and breathable as well as mite resistant, which should help your bed last a lot longer. The second layers is a quilted gel and perforated memory foam that contours to your body as well as assists in air circulation to help you sleep cool.

Gel Memory further cools the bed and adds to the classic foam feel and below that there is the Adaptive Hi Core Memory Foam layer that works as a recovery foam with a much higher response and bounce that gives you unparalleled body support. Finally, Nectar’s foundation is a breathable hi-density base foam.

DreamCloud builds their luxury hybrids at 15 inches in height with eight distinct layers. The hand-tufted, quilted euro top cover is the first layer. The cashmere and polyester blend makes the cover sweetly soft as well as breathable. After the luxurious cover, is three layers of foam. The first is gel-infused to assist with the mattresses cooling properties while at the same time cradling your body.

Next is a quilted memory foam that gives DreamCloud its namesake feel. Next up is the natural latex layer which is hypoallergenic. The latex foam has more bounce and responsiveness so that even while lying on top of all that foam, you won’t feel like you are stuck in the bed (like what happens with TempurPedic.

The sixth layer is a super dense, yet soft memory foam that adds even more support and helps act as the transition into the BestRest Coils. This layer is the innerspring part of the bed. The coils are encased in thick foam and individually wrapped for zoned support of your weight where needed most.

Technology

The Nectar bed seems more technologically advanced than many other all-foam, bed in a box brands. But the marrying of memory foam, latex foam, a coil system, and a quilted cashmere cover makes DreamCloud more advance in my opinion.

Motion Transfer

The Nectar mattress is hitting par for the course when it comes to motion transfer. So if you have a fidgety partner, you probably won’t be bothered by their motion. DreamCloud, on the other hand, is phenomenal at stopping the transfer. Your partner could do the mambo at midnight just six inches away from you, and you wouldn’t feel it.

Pressure Relief

With sleep tests using pressure sensing maps, Nectar and DreamCloud perform quite well, but they each excel in different areas. So, we’ll have to break it down into back, side, and stomach.

Back Sleepers

One area where the Nectar shines is for back sleepers. When testers laid on their backs, very little pressure was picked up by the sensors. The DreamCloud created a little bit of pressure around the shoulder blades. And although I do not think it is enough pressure to be uncomfortable, there is a noticeable difference.

Stomach Sleepers

If you sleep on your stomach, you will be quite comfortable on the Nectar bed, but the DreamCloud will be well … like a cloud. Stomach sleepers literally float on the mattress.

Side Sleepers

The pressure sensors only picked light pressure along the entirety of the sleeper’s shoulders, side, and hips while using the Nectar bed. But with the DreamCloud, the maps only picked up some pressure at the shoulders and hips. The Nectar will sleep more comfortably than most mattresses, but the DreamCloud is on another level.

Overall, DreamCloud wins two out three, so it is the mattress with better pressure relief.

We’re confident in recommending DreamCloud as the best choice based on our analysis of critical factors that an average, discerning mattress shopper would care most about.

DreamCloud is clearly made better, more luxurious, and more comfortable. One of the things that bothered me about comparing DreamCloud to other beds, especially those made in America, is the fact that DreamCloud is made in China. But with this comparison, both are made in China, so there is no remorse whatsoever.

For Sleepers with Specific Needs

Let’s face it, we all sleep differently. A bed that provides comfort and stability for one person may not be comfortable at all for another. That’s why we’ve broken it down to include everyone.

Side Sleepers: Choose DreamCloud

Side sleepers love the DreamCloud because it has such isolated pressure relief. The micro-coil compression system along with the foam technology really lets you feel like you are sleeping on a cloud.

Stomach Sleepers: Choose DreamCloud

If you look at the pressure sensing maps, the DreamCloud bed shines for stomach sleepers. There is little to no pressure, but something that is almost as important is how cool a bed sleeps. With your face in the mattress and so much of your body touching the surface, stomach sleepers can sleep hotter than other people. The plush, breathable, quilted top and gel-infused foam will help you sleep wonderfully cool.

People with Back Pain: Choose DreamCloud

The five zone, individually wrapped spring system makes sure that all of your points and curves are appropriately supported which keeps you back in alignment no matter how you sleep. One thing that studies have shown is that correct spinal alignment will increase blood flow, allow for decompression and reduce chronic pain.

Heavy People: Choose DreamCloud

DreamCloud is a luxurious 15-inch thick bed that has 7 different layers of foam and thickly encased innersprings that are individually wrapped. This type of system is going to hold weight much better than a simple foam mattress.

Couples: Choose DreamCloud

The same foam that encases the coil support system also creates a optimal edge support. This is fantastic for times when you have to sleep near the edge of the bed because you feel just as secure at the side as you do in the middle.

Conclusion

Overall, the DreamCloud is an excellent bed. It could compete with any 5-Star Hotel mattress in plush suites around the world. I was a little bit put off when I learned that they are manufactured with select materials in China, but felt better knowing that the beds are CERTIPUR-US certified. They don’t just hand that certificate out; you have to meet some pretty rigorous health standards.

The DreamCloud indeed is a luxury bed at an affordable price. I would have no problem sleeping on it. That said, if you want to go American, you can get a shockingly similar mattress from Saatva that is 100% sourced and assembled in the USA.
